Museum Education Officer
The Mission District Historical Society is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Museum Education Officer to join the team at the Mission Museum for the summer of 2026.
*This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant program and is subject to the receipt of that funding.
In this role, the youth will take the lead in designing and delivering exciting educational programs for community audiences of all ages, with a special focus on developing an engaging online toolkit for children rooted in Mission’s rich local history. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum programming, public outreach, and community education.
We’re looking for a youth who is:
* Currently enrolled in, or a graduate with, a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Archaeology, Education, or a related field
* Excellent customer service and public-facing skills
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities
* High attention to detail
* Comfort and confidence engaging with energetic groups of children
* Ability to improvise and creatively problem-solve in dynamic situations
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
* Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
To qualify for this Canada Summer Jobs-funded position, applicants must:
* Be aged between 18 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
* Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
* Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Compensation & Schedule:
Hourly Rate: $18.85/hour
Hours Per Week: 30 hours
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Start Date: As early as June 10th, 2026
Regular Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday, 9:00 AM-4:30 PM
Occasional Work: Some work outside regular hours may be required
