Known as “the coolest spot in the valley,” it was one of the most popular recreational destinations on Hatzic Island in 1938. Local residents and visitors from afar gathered there to picnic, swim, boat, and fish during the summer months. The location’s popularity was evident in a local newspaper article dated July 21, 1938, which reported that 150 cars had been seen on the grounds the previous week, noting there was still room for more visitors.
