GAMES & TOYS – British North America

Sports - British North America

The arrival of British soldiers and settlers during the Seven Years War (1755-63) brought significant changes to Canadian sports culture. These newcomers introduced cricket and equestrian sports, while Scottish immigrants brought both golf and curling to North America. Among these sports, curling gained prominence in Canada. Unlike golf, which required extensive land that few could afford, curling flourished due to the abundant winter ice that made this sport accessible to a broader population.
